Policies
Rules & policies
This tournament follows official Science Olympiad rules for the current season. The policies below cover invitational-specific logistics — for full event rules, refer to your division’s official Science Olympiad rules manual.
Eligibility & divisions
Division B is open to teams composed of students in grades 6–9. Division C is open to teams composed of students in grades 9–12. Each school may register one team per division unless otherwise approved by the tournament director.
Registration & rosters
Coaches register their team and enter their full roster through the coach portal. Rosters may be edited up until the roster lock date shown in your portal dashboard. After that date, changes require contacting tournament staff directly.
Build-event scheduling
Build events (Boomilever, Bridge, Mission Possible, and others) require a self-scheduled testing appointment. Once your team is confirmed, use the Scheduling tab in the coach portal to reserve an available time slot for each build event your team is competing in. Slots are first-come, first-served and fill on a rolling basis.
Conduct & fair play
All coaches, students, and volunteers are expected to follow national Science Olympiad rules of fair play, including honor-code expectations around device construction and event-day conduct. Violations may be referred to the tournament director.
Appeals
If your team wishes to appeal a score, a rules interpretation, or a conduct decision, submit the appeal form in the coach portal within the window announced at the tournament. Include the event name, a clear description of the issue, and any supporting details. Tournament staff will respond in writing through the portal.
Need to file an appeal?
